One such figure is Austin Gleeson, a hurler from Waterford whose talent, flair, and commitment to the game have made him one of the most exciting players of his generation.

Austin plays his club hurling with Mount Sion and is a key member of the Waterford senior hurling team. Known for his skill and versatility, he has lined out in both defence and attack, though he is most celebrated for his creativity and impact at centre-forward. His ability to change a game in an instant has made him a fan favourite across the country.

In 2016, Austin made history at just 21 years of age when he won both Young Hurler of the Year and Hurler of the Year—an achievement matched by only one other player in the history of the game. It was a moment that cemented his place as one of the brightest stars in modern hurling.

As impressive as his sporting career is, what makes Austin especially important to us at Freshtoday is his role as an ambassador. Austin brings his energy and experience into schools, where he encourages children to embrace healthy eating, regular exercise, and positive lifestyles.
